Services for the Elderly
The elderly, their families, and their caregivers are offered a wealth of services. Whether it concerns fall prevention programs, loss of autonomy, or the abuse or neglect of an elderly person, please call 819 627-3385, ext. 1224 if you require any information or have any questions.
Loss of Autonomy
- The services provided to individuals with loss of autonomy are set up according to a detailed assessment of their needs. Such assessment takes into consideration the involvement and needs of the care network (caregivers) surrounding the individual with loss of autonomy. These services may exist on a continuum, starting from the care and services provided in the home environment (in-home support) right up to the services provided in an assisted-living facility.
It essentially means providing the right care in the right place at the right time. To help improve and maintain autonomy, our teams put the emphasis on continuity and consistency of activities as well as early intervention for those at risk.
Assisted-Living Facilities
- Adults and the elderly, who because of their physical or cognitive limitations, progressive diseases, or loss of permanent autonomy, can no longer live in their own homes, despite the support received from a circle of family and friends, are eligible to reside in an assisted-living facility that meets their needs. The CHLSD (with 14 beds) recommends the "living environment” approach. The individuals are thus at the centre of all activities and every effort is made to meet their biopsychosocial needs.
With this objective in mind, CHSLD caregivers are given the opportunity to complete the Quebec training program “Agir auprès de la personne âgée” (dealing with the elderly), which promotes incorporating the “living environment” approach and respecting the dignity and autonomy of the individuals who live there.
Our volunteers conduct a variety of activities on a regular basis, i.e. four (4) times a week, daytime and evenings. They mainly involve occupational and stimulation activities in which all our residents can participate.
Day Centre
- Several activities encouraging social skills, stimulation, self-help, recreation, and more, are held at the Day Centre located in the Latourelle Pavillon. Designed for the elderly living at home, this service promotes retention of knowledge, social integration, and development of autonomy, and can sometimes give a welcome respite to their families.
