Functions of the Risk and Quality Management Committee
In general, the Risk and Quality Management Committee shall exercise functions provided for in the Act.
More specifically, the functions of the Risk and Quality Management Committee shall include searching, developing, and promoting resources which:
determine and analyze incident or accident risks, with a view to ensuring user safety, and more particularly, in the event of nosocomial infections, preventing their occurrence and controlling recurrence;
ensure that support is provided to victims and their loved ones;
ensure that a monitoring system is set up, including a local register to record incidents and accidents so that the cause of such incidents and accidents can be analyzed, and recommend that the Board of Directors of the institution takes the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of said incidents and accidents, and, if applicable, the necessary measures to control them.
For the purposes of this section and unless the context denotes otherwise, the following terms shall take on the meanings assigned to them below:
Incident: an action or situation that does not affect the health or well-being of the user, the staff, the professional concerned, or a third party, the results of which are unusual and which may, in other instances, result in consequences.
Accident: an action or situation where risk occurs and is causing or could cause consequences on the health or well-being of the user, the staff, the professional concerned, or a third party.
