Multidisciplinary Council

Establishment and Composition of the MC

A Multidisciplinary Council has been established at the institution

The council shall be composed of all persons holding college or university diplomas who perform functions for the institution which are specific to the field of activity in which the diploma was granted and which are directly related to health services, social services, research, or teaching.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, no physician, dentist, or pharmacist may be a member of the Multidisciplinary Council.

Similarly, no nurse, person performing nursing activities, or nursing assistants, may be a member of the Multidisciplinary Council.

Responsibilities of the MC

The Multidisciplinary Council shall give advice and makes recommendations on the following:
  • Assessment and improvement of the quality of professional activities;
  • Proper distribution of care and services;
  • Scientific and technical organization;
  • The means to be used to assess and maintain the professional standards of its members.
Besides its recommendation power, the Multidisciplinary Council is also seen as a means to:
  • allowing professionals to give their opinion regarding technical and training requirements;
  • ensuring better communication within the organization;
  • strengthening relationships between professionals and fostering better collaboration;
  • developing memberships in peer groups.

MC Executive Committee

The responsibilities of the MC shall be exercised by an Executive Committee composed of five (5) members elected by and from among the members of the Council who hold different positions and who, where applicable, are members of different professional orders. It shall also be composed of the Executive Director and the person he designates for such purpose.

Annual Report of the MC

The MC must submit an Annual Report to the Board of Directors no later than March 31st of each year regarding the execution of its functions and its resulting opinions.
