Medical and Professional Services

Outpatient Clinic

• Nurses and doctors are available on premises and receive patients without an appointment Monday through Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M., and Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Emergency services are also available.
  

Emergency Care

• 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  Recognized as a Stabilization Centre, our institution's Emergency Department is open around the clock. Upon your arrival, a nurse assesses your condition and assigns a priority score according to the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale. Once your registration is complete, a doctor sees you according to the established order of priority.  A diagnosis is given and the doctor starts treatment. When your condition is stabilized, and if so required, arrangements will be made to have you transferred to North Bay.
  

Access to Specialized Medical Services

• In accordance with an interprovincial agreement with the RAMQ (Quebec Health Insurance Board), the CSSS de Témiscaming-et-de-Kipawa offers its people access to about thirty specialists in the North Bay, Ontario CH. Patients have access to all services offered, whether it be for orthopedics, gynecology, surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, ophthalmology, ear/nose/throat, physical medicine, obstetrics, and more.
  

Family Medicine Group

• The CSSS de Témiscaming-et-de-Kipawa Family Medicine Group has been in existence since 2003. It is the first FMG to be established in Abitibi-Témiscamingue and one of the few Groups located in a Quebec public institution. Nearly 90% of the population is registered with one of its doctors. Its clinical nurse monitors the most vulnerable patients under the supervision of the medical team.
  

Laboratory

• Blood and other samples are taken without an appointment on the following days and times:
  • Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
  • Thursdays from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
  The laboratory is also open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. for prenatal appointments.
  
  Adherence to this schedule, as well as courtesy to our staff, is highly appreciated.

Medical Imaging

• This service is available without an appointment Monday through Friday from 9:30 A.M.
  to 12:00 P.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. with a referral from your doctor. A radiology technologist is always on call for emergency situations.
  

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

• This service is available on the same days and times as those of Medical Imaging with a referral from your doctor.
  

Pharmacy

• Patients of the institution have been taking advantage of an Automated and Robotic Medication Distribution system, commonly called SARDM, since spring of 2010. As such, the entire process involving the distribution of medication, from its prescription right up to administration to the patient, is carried out in complete safety 24 hours a day, 7 days a week under the supervision of a pharmacist.

Physical Rehabilitation

• This service is available by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. to
  12:00 P.M. and 1:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.  Our Physical Rehabilitation Services include occupational therapy and physiotherapy.

Nutrition Clinic

• A dietician-nutritionist provides individual or group consultations by appointment only, and without a referral from your doctor.
  

Speech Therapy

• This service is available by appointment only and with a referral from a health professional.
