Public health intervention is not only intended for the overall population and its sub-groups. It is also intended for existing systems which impact living conditions. These systems are manifold. They are political, legal, health and social services related, economic, fiscal, educational, etc., and are a determining factor in the lives of people in general.
In order to address the challenges that impact the health and well-being of our region and to work on issues before they arise, it is important that we recognize the power of preventive actions in various environments. In practical terms, this means that we must develop support mechanisms for the development, implementation, and maintenance, within communities, of public health interventions deemed effective and promising.
The Public Health Act defines the obligation to develop, implement, assess, and regularly update the Regional Public Health Action Plan as well as the Local Action Plans of each CLSC territory in accordance with the National Public Health Program.
