Ethics: Committee and Code

Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee is an advisory and interdisciplinary committee that contributes to fulfilling the mandate of the CSSSTK. It reports to the Board of Directors and is a resource at the service of the entire community, whether for care staff, doctors, students, various departments of the institution, management, or users and their families.

The Ethics Committee is a platform to reflect on ethical issues in medical practice and the conflicts that may arise from opposing positions on fundamental beliefs and values.

Assistance, Mediation, Recommendations, Advice, and Support

Under no circumstances can the Ethics Committee replace the expertise and professionalism of the teams. It does not impose interventions. It has no decision-making authority, but it can provide assistance, mediation, recommendations, advice, and support for the resolution of ethical issues, with a view to continuous improvement of the quality and safety of care and services.

Fundamental Principles

The fundamental ethical principles are respect for life, respect for individual autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.
Code of Ethics
Date added: 2010-10-07

The code of ethics is a guide for standards of conduct to help all personnel and users when interacting with each other. This relationship is based on cooperation and mutual trust. Promoting the users’ rights and responsibilities when receiving services from the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Témiscaming-et-de-Kipawa is the reason for the document.
