Establishment and Composition of the Council of Physicians, Dentists, and Pharmacists
A Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists (CPDP) has been established at the institution.
It is composed of all physicians, dentists, and pharmacists who practice their profession at the institution and who have been granted the statuses required by the Act.
Responsibilities of the CPDP
The CPDP is accountable to the Board of Directors for the following:
- Controlling and assessing the quality, including the pertinence, of medical, dental and pharmaceutical activities;
- Assessing and maintaining the professional standards of the physicians, dentists, and pharmacists;
- Making recommendations on the qualifications and competences of physicians, dentists, and pharmacists who apply for appointments or renewals of appointments and on the privileges and statuses granted them;
- Giving its opinion on the disciplinary measures that the Board of Directors should impose on physicians, dentists, and pharmacists;
- Making recommendations on the rules governing medical and dental care and on the rules governing the use of medication;
- Making recommendations on the obligations attached to the status of pharmacist and the privileges granted to a physician or dentist by the Board of Directors;
- Developing the terms of a duty roster system;
- Giving its opinion on the professional aspects of the following issues:
- the technical and scientific organization of the institution
- the rules governing the use of the medical, dental, and pharmaceutical resources, and on the administrative sanctions to be provided for;
- Making recommendations on the professional aspects of the appropriate distribution of medical and dental care and pharmaceutical services, and on the medical organization of the institution;
- Giving advice on the part of the organizational plan of the institution relating to medical staff, training of medical departments or services, appointment of heads of departments or medical services and the head of the pharmaceutical department or services;
- Giving advice on any regulation passed by the Board of Directors that has a bearing on the responsibilities of the CPDP.
