Council of Nurses
Establishment and Composition of the Council of Nurses
A Council of Nurses has been established at the institution.
The Council shall be composed of all nurses performing their duties in a centre operated by the institution.
Responsibilities of the Council of Nurses
The function of the Council of Nurses is to make recommendations to the Board of Directors on five areas that directly affect the nursing practice, namely:
- Overall assessment of the quality of the nursing activitiesperformed at the institution;
- Assessment of the quality of the activities performed byspecialized practicing nurses, in collaboration with the Council ofPhysicians, Dentists, and Pharmacists and the Nursing Department;
- The rules of nursing care applicable to nurses;
- The rules governing medical care and the use of medicationapplicable to specialized practicing nurses;
- The proper distribution of care provided by nurses.
The Council of Nurses shall also give its opinion to General Management on the following:
- The technical and scientific organization of the institution;
- Assessment and maintenance of the professional standards of thenurses.
The Council of Nurses may also be requested to give advice or make recommendations on any other function entrusted to it by General Management and the Board of Directors.
Executive Committee of the Council of Nurses
The responsibilities of the Council of Nurses shall be exercised by an Executive Committee composed of three (3) nurses designated by the Council, the Chairman, a nurse or nursing assistant, the Executive Director, and the Director of Nursing Care.
Annual Report of the Council of Nurses
The Council of Nurses must submit an Annual Report to the Board of Directors no later than March 31st of each year regarding the execution of its functions and its resulting opinions.
