MRC Amie des Aînés (Age-Friendly Region)

In collaboration with the Centre for Studies on Aging and the Secrétariat aux aînés (Secretariat for the Elderly), the CSSS de Témiscaming-et-de-Kipawa and some of its key regional partners have been participating in the Ville Amies des aînés-Québec project since 2008. The purpose of the pilot project, which is simultaneously conducted in 6 other municipalities, is to document the conditions to implement the Ville Amies des Aînés program of the World Health Organization within the Quebec context.

In summary, the study must enable:

• identifying the needs and weaknesses of services, facilities, and infrastructures so that the elderly may stay active and engaged in their community;
• developing projects related to adapting living environments (urban or rural) to the needs of the elderly;
• understanding the process to implement such projects as well as assessing their impacts.
